Growing teams hit a familiar wall: every new screen looks slightly different, reviews turn into taste debates, andshipping slows down. A design system replaces all of that with agreed building blocks.
Start with tokens, not pages
Color, type, spacing, and radius decisions come first. When the foundations are named and documented, components built on top of them stay coherent without constant oversight.
Components earn their place
Every component should solve a repeated problem — buttons, cards, forms, dialogs — with variants for real states: loading, empty, error, and success. One-offs stay one-offs; patterns graduate when they repeat three times.
Document the why
Usage guidance matters more than the gallery: when to use each pattern, what to avoid, and who owns changes. A system people understand is a system people actually adopt.
